Animal Care Assistant

Job Description

As a member of a nursing team , this role is responsible for assisting the Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses in the treatment and care of animals and the day to day running of the practice.

Job type

  • Part-time  including weekends, hours negotiable
  • Salary dependant on experience

Qualifications

  • Must be 17 years of age
  • Must have a GSCE in English and Maths A-C
  • Good Communication skills , both written and oral

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carrying out auxiliary nurse duties as directed by the Senior Nurse
  • Assisting with preparation of  clinical areas
  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic and safe practice,
    • Cleaning floors and surfaces
    • Washing and drying animal bedding, 
    • Washing and sterilizing surgical instruments
    • Cleaning and maintaining dog and cat kennels
  • Undertaking reception duties at busy periods
    • Answering phone calls 
    • Booking Appointments
  • Customer Care
    • Demonstrating a caring and professional attitude to customers, and patients
    • Assisting with patient discharges as Directed by Senior Nurse

  • Full -time position available,
  • 1 in 4 OOH rota,
  • CPD is encouraged and supported, 2 days allowance and £500 per annum

Sheep

  • Flock health planning,
  • Farm assurance,
  • Ram fertility,
  • Lambing,
  • FEC work.

Companion Animal

This is a 1st Opinion Practice with encouragement to further develop clinical and surgical skills, to encourage you to become an all-round GP. Experience preferable but not essential.
